CEM/Carl Baugh director - Tylosaur: Farmersville, Texas | ||
It is amazing what an ordinary gully in Texas can yeild, a wonderful specimen of Tylosaur, a marine animal. It was very well preserved, the bone is a sandy brown color and very hard. The whole animal was relatively articulated except for the skull which apparently had been bitten into. Some of the other bones show signs that it was scavenged a little before it was completely covered up. A distinguishing feature of the Tylosaur which can easily confuse excavators is the direction of the vertebrea, which reverse direction near the sacrum. |
