Stegosaur/Sauropod bones
Mt. Blanco volunteers, Starr Vaughn and Phillip Hall remove matrix from a large black tibia from our dig in Dinosaur Colorado. After the bone is cleaned it will be hardened with polyvinyl acetate and glued together. |
After removing rock from the one side of a large field jacket containing several bones (dubbed the "mystery bone") a new plaster jacket with support frame is applied and prepared to be turned over so the matrix on the opposite side can be removed. |
Dental Picks? Youre kidding! Terrible Triceratops skulls
Picture not availiable, yet.... | |
Dental picks are seldom used in fieldwork, as is often depicted in documentaries, however they do come in handy in the lab. | Triceratops skulls from our dig in North Dakota present a unique challenge as flint-like rock often covers very fragile bone. |
More to come on our North Dakota dig, as soon as it's over...
