Stegosaur/Sauropod bones

Mt. Blanco volunteers, Starr Vaughn and Phillip Hall remove matrix from a large black tibia from our dig in Dinosaur Colorado. After the bone is cleaned it will be hardened with polyvinyl acetate and glued together.

After removing rock from the one side of a large field jacket containing several bones (dubbed the "mystery bone") a new plaster jacket with support frame is applied and prepared to be turned over so the matrix on the opposite side can be removed.


          Dental Picks? Youre kidding!     Terrible Triceratops skulls

Dental picks are seldom used in fieldwork, as is often depicted in documentaries, however they do come in handy in the lab. Triceratops skulls from our dig in North Dakota present a unique challenge as flint-like rock often covers very fragile bone.
